Founded in 2000, Phenix Systems designs, manufactures and markets powder bed additive manufacturing equipments. The parts are directly created from their three-dimensional perception in CAD software. Each representative section of the part is laser sintered in solid phase with or without instantaneous consolidation at the melting point, depending on the material being used.
This innovative production technology was initially devised by the Groupe d’Etude des matériaux Hétérogènes (heterogeneous materials research group), a laboratory in the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Céramique Industrielle.
The company progressively included in its research and development teams all the different skills required for the deployment of this process in the industry.
Today, thanks to its catalogue of patents and its highly specialized know-how in the use of fine powders with an average granulometry between 6 and 9 µm, Phenix Systems has become a recognized member of the sector for additive manufacturing equipment.
The use of fine powders required the development of adjustable layering systems able to produce layers of 20 µm and above, whatever the density of the material or the shape of the grain.
The low granulometry of powder allows a better control of the thermal gradient during the contact between the material and the laser, providing the following advantages:
- an excellent material quality and surface status
- limited mechanical stress within the part being produced
- increased definition of the details
- reduction in size of production supports.
